House of Matriarch is a natural perfumery house founded by Christi Meshell in Washington in 2009. It tries to redefine fine fragrance for the 21st century with captivating perfumes that transcend classification, gender and convention. House of Matriarch Perfumes are designed to restore the connection with the ultimate Matriarch, Mother Earth. In pre-patriarchal times, clan mothers were usually the herbalist/healers, as healing was a simple extension of their nurturing and mothering instincts. They used plants, oils, teas, tinctures and concoctions to heal themselves and their families. They passed this knowledge freely, and their art eventually evolved into the modern science of pharmacology.
